“Why should I go to conferences?”
“What should I ask while I’m there?” The JDHS Site Council is encouraging parents to check out the new Guide to Parent-Teacher Conferences, written by parents and for parents. The handout highlights the value of conferences – for students, parents, and teachers – and provides a brief framework for how to make the most of them. Conferences are an excellent way to begin to build a relationship with your child’s teachers, to hear teachers’ goals and concerns, and to share your own. The guide gives some ideas about how to prepare for conferences, explains what to expect once you arrive at JDHS, and offers some specific examples of questions you could ask the teachers.
