A message from Principal Casperson
I hope that this
newsletter finds you, and your student, ready for a well-deserved Winter
Break. With final exams December 18th, 19th and 20th, we are launching
into the time off with a true break for the semester. Please know that
this is a break for all of our school community, which means PowerSchool,
Canvas and grading may be paused so that we can take advantage of the time away.
Semester grades will be finalized upon return in January, once we are all back
together.
The second semester
starts off as a clean slate for all students in all classes. Whether your
student’s term went swimmingly or there was room for growth when we start back
on January 8th everyone is at the same starting point. Part of the pep
talk that happens in the Casperson household includes the reminder that as the
semester progresses it is much easier for a grade to slip than it is for a
grade to climb. Emphasizing strong work habits such as use of planners,
getting all assignments in on time and regular school attendance are a platform
we can all build on.
Winter activities have
begun and our Capital City Classic tournament for dance, cheer, pep band, boys’
basketball and girls’ basketball are a great way to support a ton of our
Crimson Bears. We will host the three-day tournament December 27th, 28th
and 29th with hometown girls’ games at 5 nightly, followed by boys’ games at
7pm. If you are looking for ways to support the school, or to fill your time,
please join us in the George Houston Gymnasium.
This time of year, is
often one filled with reflection and hope. I want to thank you for your
partnership with us, in support of all students. I am grateful, and
humbled, to be a Crimson Bear.
Happy holidays, and best
wishes for a restful break.
