Pioneers of Alaska Scholarship |
ELIGIBILITY The scholarship will be open to any graduating senior of a public or private school whose program is approved by the State of Alaska Department of Education that is located within the geographic boundaries of the Juneau School District who is a descendant of a member of Pioneers of Alaska Men’s Igloo #6 or Women’s Igloo #6 who is in good standing or a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of their death. A descendant is defined as the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, great-grandson or great granddaughter of a member of Men’s Igloo #6 or Women’s Igloo #6. Legally adopted children are considered to be direct descendants.

The law firm of Faulkner Banfield, P.C., will award a one-time grant of $1000 to one qualified student to apply toward his or her advanced education or training at an accredited university, college or technical school. The grant will be paid directly to the qualified institution.
Any student from Juneau graduating from high school or earning an equivalent certification in the spring of 2012 and who will be entering an accredited university, college or technical school in 2012. All intended fields of study are eligible. All graduating students who intend to advance their education or training are eligible.

The Juneau Audubon Society will present one 2012 graduate of a Juneau high school (this includes home schools) with a $1000 renewable scholarship to apply towards tuition, books or general fees at a college, university or vocational school of their choice. Alaska Gun Collector’s Associatin Scholarship |
AGCA is an organization dedicated to the protection of the Second Amendment, shooting sports, hunting, gun collecting, etc. To contribute to the continuing improvement of our interest, we are offering scholarships to Alaska high school graduates who are in need of help, and have academic achievement beyond the norm. We are awarding scholarships to full-time students who reside in the State of Alaska, wherever they attend college. The scholarship committee will evaluate the following: 1. Completed application form 2. Grade point average 3. Full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university. Application may be made before acceptance to a college, but payment will be made to the school’s financial aid office. 4. Interview of applicant with the scholarship committee 5. The endorsement of the applicant’s references 6. Financial need 7. High school or college transcript. If the applicant has already completed at least one year of college, a high school transcript is not necessary.

2012 TERRITORIAL SPORTSMEN SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION VOCATIONAL and TECHNICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Application for these scholarships consists of: 1 – A completed application form; and, 2 -- Proof of High School or GED graduation. Photocopies of graduation certificates or, if certificates are lost or unavailable, letters from teachers or principals attesting to graduation will suffice. If currently a Senior in High School, submit official transcripts of high school work. Students planning to graduate during the current year or who have graduated in previous years are eligible. 3 – Transcript of any college credits that have been undertaken. 4 -- Two or more Letters of Recommendation (one or more should be from someone outside the school system). 5 ‑- Letter of personal experiences and goals, including: a. Summary of your work experience, b. Training costs and how much money is needed for training, c. How you plan on using your training, d. Summary of your projects, hobbies, activities and interests in the area of use of natural resources, e. (optional) Summary of other training or on-the-job training experiences. f. (optional) Other information which may be useful to the selection committee.
Students will be selected on the basis of their completed application. Successful applicants will be awarded scholarships based on their: 1) financial need; 2) likelihood of remaining in or returning to Alaska upon completion of training or coursework; 3) educational achievements and goals; 4) character and citizenship; and 5) commitment to conservation.

Juneau Education Association (JEA) |
The Juneau Education Association (JEA) is again providing scholarships to students graduating from the Juneau School District. These awards are of varying amounts ranging from $100 to $2,012. To apply applicants need to submit a letter of interest describing their future plans, a two-page essay about a teacher who has made an impact on them, a copy of their current transcript, a copy of their current resume and the completed recommendation form from the packet.
Application packets need to be typed, with the essays being a minimum two-page, double-spaced with one-inch margins. Preference may be given to students who are sons and daughters of present and past JEA members, or are pursuing a career in education.

* Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays: (PFLAG) Juneau Chapter is offering a $1000 scholarship to a Juneau student who will be a 2012 high school or GED graduate who plans to enroll in a college, university, junior college, trade or professional school. The scholarship may be used for tuition, textbooks, or technical supplies. PFLAG is an international civil rights organization founded in 1981 to educate, support, and advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons. The Juneau chapter was organized in 1995.
SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE FOR: *gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students *students raised by lesbian or gay parents *straight allies of the sexual minority community

The College Student Assistance (CSA) program provides financial aid to Central Council Tlingit or Haida enrolled members within the Compact Service Agreement area who are attending, or plan to attend, an accredited college or university in the pursuit of education degree programs, specifically post-secondary education. Only students planning to attend full-time are eligible for CSA awards. That is, undergraduates must enroll in and complete a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours with a 2.0 GPA or better each term and graduates must enroll in and complete a minimum of nine (9) credit hours with a 3.0 GPA or better each term. Note: Provisions are available for students with a documented disability. Contact this office for further information.
